Amboseli
Big-tusked elephant families crossing dry lake bed under Kilimanjaro. The most photographed elephants on the continent, and deservedly so.
Amboseli reads flat and plain at midday. At first light it becomes the most cinematic landscape in Kenya, with dust rising off the pan and Kilimanjaro looming over the herds.
We plan Amboseli around the light, not the game drive schedule. That usually means very early starts and a long, slow mid-morning.

- June to October and January to February, when the mountain clears at dawn.
